Colourful tableaux from Assam, Maharshatra, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gujarat, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Uttarakhand and several other states and Union Territories rolled down the Kartavya Path.
Republic Day Live Updates: President Droupadi Murmu commenced the celebrations of the 74th Republic Day on Thursday. A multi-layer security cover is in place for the Republic Day celebrations in Delhi with police conducting anti-sabotage checks, verification drives and patrolling to thwart any untoward incident.
President Murmu unfurled the national flag at Kartavya Path which was followed by the national anthem and a customary 21 Gun Salute.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid solemn tributes to the fallen heroes by laying a wreath at the National War Memorial. Marching contingents of forces, BrahMos missile and battle tanks displayed India's military might during the parade at the Kartavya Path.
For the first time, Kartavya Path witnessed the 21-gun salute given to President Droupadi Murmu during the parade with 105mm Indian field guns, replacing the British-made 25-pounder guns.
Also, the marching contingent consists of three women and six Agniveers. In a first, a military contingent of the Egyptian Army also marched at the R-day parade today. The Egyptian military contingent has 144 personnel participating in the parade. The military assets which will be displayed during the parade include made-in-India equipment, showing the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat. Stay tuned with India Today for all the latest updates.

R-Day fly-past: Poor visibility curtails excitement
Spectators could not fully enjoy the fly-past during the RepublicDay paradeat the Kartavya Pathas a layer of fog lowered visibility levels to around 800 metres in the national capital on Thursday.
The fly past is one of the major attractions during the parade.
People kept their phone cameras open but faced trouble capturing aircraft formations due to the layer of fog and smoke cloaking the capital.

Bengal R-Day tableau: Durga Puja on Kartavya Path
"Dhak", "dhunuchi" and women wearing white sarees with red border bowing to Maa, the culture of Durga Puja came alive on Kartavya Path as West Bengal showcased its Republic Day tableau with a festive spirit.
The tableau also highlighted local art and culture, officials told PTI.

ICAR showcases millets in R-Day tableau as UN celebrates India's superfoods
Colourful patterns created using millet grains adorned the tableau of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) at the Republic Day parade on Kartavya Path, celebrating the International Year of Millets declared by the United Nations.
The tractor in front of the tableau was decorated with a rangoli of millets -- ivory coloured jowar, gray-brown pearls of bajra and deep red ragi grains -- showcasing a combination of traditional farming and modernity.India is a global leader in the production of millets with a harvest of 17.9 million tonnes in 2020-21 from across 21 states.

The Tribal Affairs Ministry's tableau during the Republic Day parade depicted the government's efforts to provide quality education to Scheduled Tribes (ST) students in remote tribal areas through the Eklavya Model Residential Schools.

R-Day: Biodiversity conservation, cheetah reintroduction theme of CPWD's tableau
Bedecked with colourful flowers, the CPWD's tableau at the Republic Day parade depicted biodiversity conservation, including the reintroduction of cheetah in India 70 years after the spotted feline went extinct from the country.
The front part of the tableau showcased Cheetah, the only large carnivore that got completely wiped out from the country in 1952 due to over-hunting and habitat loss. (PTI)

Tableaux of various states show India's diverse culture
The tableau of Andhra Pradesh depicted 'Prabhala Theertham'- a festival of the peasantry during Makara Sankranti, at the Republic Day parade.Assam's tableau showed Ahom warrior Lachit Borphukan on a boat and the view of Maa Kamakhya temple
Uttarakhand's tableau depicted the Corbett National Park and Almora's Jageshwar Dham.Based on the theme 'Tourism and composite culture of Ladakh', its tableau exhibits the essence of the UT's harmonious relationship with nature and rest of the world.
Gujarat's tableau showed the renewable sources of energy on the theme 'Clean-Green energy Efficient Gujarat', at Republic Day 2023. Tripura's tableau with the theme 'Sustainable Livelihood through tourism and organic farming in Tripura with active participation of women', displayed at the Republic Day parade. It also showed Mahamuni Buddha Mandir.
Arunachal Pradesh, known as the land for the rising sun, its tableau showcased the potential for tourism in the fields of adventure, sports, ecology, culture, religion, history and archaeology.
The tableau of Jharkhand showed the famous Baidyanath Temple located in Deoghar. Lord Birsa Munda is depicted in the front of the tableau.The tableau of Jammu & Kashmir with its theme 'Naya J&K' showcased the holy Amarnath Shrine and Tulip gardens and lavender cultivation.
Kerala presented the tableau of 'Nari Shakti' and folk traditions of women empowerment. The tractor portrays Karthyayani Amma, the winner of Nari Shakti Puraskar in 2020 who top scored the literacy examination at the age of 96.
Uttar Pradesh's tableau at the Republic Day parade showcased the three-day Deepotsava celebrated in Ayodhya. Haryana's tableau reflected the design based on Bhagavad Gita. In its entirety, the tableau shows Lord Krishna serving as the charioteer of Arjun and giving him knowledge of Gita.
