Can my child turn off Family Link? ›

Children over 13 (or the applicable age in your country), who had supervision added to their account or updated their account, can choose to stop supervision. When a child decides to take full responsibility for their account and stop supervision: Parent supervision features are turned off, like: Setting up downtime.

Parents can access their child's account data, like emails, by signing in to the child's account. If you don't know the password, you can reset their password. If you're a parent, you can find your child's Android and compatible Fitbit device location in Family Link once device location sharing is turned on.

By default, parents can get notifications for things like: New apps: When your child requests or installs a new app. Website requests: When your child requests access to visit a site in Google Chrome that you blocked.

Family Link allows you to set daily screen time limits, set a device bedtime, and remotely lock your child's Android or Chrome OS device.

When you join a family, your family members may find your name, photo, and email address. Because your family manager is responsible for the family payment method, they'll get receipts for anything you purchased using the family payment method. Your family members can find content added to your Family Library.

Google Family Link only works with Google accounts for children under 13 created via the Family Link app. Once a child turns 13, they can continue to use Family Link if they choose to do so.

By default, Family Link makes it possible for the child to “graduate” to a regular Google account at age 13 and — if they're still on Family Link — fully transitions them into an adult account at age 18.

Here are some additional things to keep in mind:If you factory reset the phone, Family Link will be removed. However, if the parent has set up other parental controls, such as screen time limits, these will still be in place. If you create a new Google account, you will need to download all of your apps and data again.
